Fast and Furious- It Matters!

This is somewhat graphic, but it is a story that must be told.

Another failing of the state department

The Independent: According to senior diplomatic sources, the US State Department had credible information 48 hours before mobs charged the consulate in Benghazi, and the embassy in Cairo, that American missions may be targeted, but no warnings were given for diplomats to go on high alert and “lockdown”, under which movement is severely restricted.

Obama Admin to give $1 billion to Egypt while Egypt takes up with Iran

The Washington Free Beacon: According to U.S. officials, the head of the Egyptian General Intelligence Service, Maj. Gen. Murad Muwafi, met in early August with a senior official of Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

Disclosure of the Egyptian-Iranian intelligence meeting comes as the Obama administration is planning to provide $1 billion in aid to bail out Egypt’s new Islamist government. The administration is said to be seeking closer ties to the new regime in Cairo, following the ouster in February 2011 of long-time ally Hosni Mubarak.

Many members of the pro-democratic, anti-Muslim Brotherhood opposition in Egypt believe the Obama administration has made a covert pact to support the Morsi regime.

A new perspective on Afghanistan ala Chicago

Weekly Standard: “Chicago is an example of what makes this country great,” according to President Obama.

Having said that, however, Mr. Obama did not mention that “more Chicago residents — 228 — have been killed so far this year in the city than the number of U.S. troops killed in Afghanistan – 144 — over the same period,” the Huffington Post noted in June.

“The war zone-like statistics are not new. As WBEZ reports, while some 2,000 U.S. troops have been killed in Afghanistan since 2001, more than 5,000 people have been killed by gun fire in Chicago during that time, based on Department of Defense and FBI data.

Romney’s energy plan

NBC News: Romney- “I will set a national goal of America and North America — North American energy independence by 2020,” Romney pledged. “That means we produce all the energy we use in North America. And there are a number of things I’m going to do to make that happen. It is achievable. This is not some pie in the sky kind of thing. This is a real, achievable objective.”

Obama Motors (GM) headed to 2nd bankruptcy

According to Forbes writer Louis Woodhill, GM is headed to bankruptcy again.  Between lagging sales of the Malibu ECO, $559 million in sponsorships for the Manchester United soccer team (in England), and the unwillingness of the UAW to accept concessions, among other dismal reports and decisions, General Motors may well be headed toward a 2nd bankruptcy despite Mr. Obama’s efforts to bail out the auto giant.  And amid this fiasco, Obama wants to take the same steps with other American manufacturing companies.

Uh, let’s leave the turn-around stuff to the turn-around pro’s.

Subsidizing green energy job losses

The Washington Free Beacon: LM Wind Power, a Denmark company, laid off 234 of its 300 employees after receiving $45 million in aid from Federal and State tax-payers.  How long can we continue to subsidize a boon-doggle?
